I could be wrong, but I think that quote from Lewis about the book and the cup of tea comes to us via Walter Hooper, and his reliability as a source for all things Lewis has been... controversial. (But if I'm wrong and the quote can be traced to an actual writing of Lewis's that was published during his lifetime, never mind.)
I couldn’t track it down in the few minutes I gave it, Peter, but I guessed it was either anecdotal or from a letter. I can definitely believe Hooper is the source, in which case, sure, asterisk it, but it sound enough like Lewis for me to give it a pass!
